Carlton “Cully” F. Franz, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. He was born on June 21, 1935, the son of the late Walter and Verona (Vorpagel) Franz. Cully was born in the house less than two blocks away from the house in which he died. He was proud to serve in the U.S. Army from 1955 until 1958. On January 19, 1962 he married his wife of 59 years, Laurel Larsen. He worked for Rockwell for 17 years, and then retired from Speed Queen after 25 years. Cully was a “handyman” and enjoyed fixing things. He was known to tinker in the garage.
Cully is survived by his wife, Laurel; children: Deborah (Mark) Reeves, Jeffrey Franz and Steven (Lori) Franz; three grandchildren: Jason (Jackie) Reeves, Joshua Hoppe and Kandie Franz; one great-granddaughter, Julee Reeves, who was the apple of Papa’s eye; sister, Joyce (Jim) Peters of Freeport, IL; very special nephew, Larry (Cindy) Larsen; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Verona Franz; in-laws: Kenneth and Winnie Larsen and Fred Applebee; and very special nephew, Randy Larsen.
A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro, with Rev. Paul Mundinger officiating. Burial will be in Waukau Cemetery with Military Honors.
