Obituary for Carol Marie Koss

Carol M. Koss, age 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Oshkosh on September 6, 1939, the daughter of the late Barney and Helen (Karst) Paulsen. On October 31, 1959 she married Steven Koss in St. Mary Catholic Church, Oshkosh. Carol was a manager for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the food service department. Her faith was very important to her and she cherished going to St. Mary Catholic Church in Omro. Carol enjoyed living on Butte Des Morts, fishing, boating, camping and traveling with family, playing cards and attending car races. She will be remembered for socializing, and the love she had with her family.

Carol is survived by her sons: Steven (Ann) Koss and Jeffrey (Vickie Carpenter) Koss; grandchildren: Adam (Kristen) Koss, Joshua Koss, Ashley Koss and Jacob Koss; great-granddaughter, Raelynn Koss; sisters: Nancy (John) Embs and Susie Kosmer; brother, Phil Paulsen; sisters-in-law, Marion Paulsen, Shirley Paulsen, Janet Paulsen and Pauline Paulsen; sister-in-law, Julaine (Green) Wagner; brother-in-law, Daniel (Elaine) Koss; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Val Vilwock.

She was preceded in death by husband, Steven; her parents; mother and father in-law: Arcile and Steven Koss; brothers: Robert Paulsen, Jack Paulsen, Bill Paulsen and Don Paulsen; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jean & Dennis Syvrud and June & Erich Tschech; brother-in-law, Peter Kosmer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert (Jabber) and Nancy Koss; sisters-in law: Donna Paulsen and Florence (Polly) Koss; and very close friend, Barb Wagner.

A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro. Burial will follow in Omro Cemetery, Omro.

The family extends a special thank you to Aurora at Home Hospice, Home Instead, the staff at Eden Meadows, and Justine Krause for their wonderful care.
