Obituary for Earl Paul Miller

Earl P. Miller, age 74, passed away unexpectedly and entered into eternal life on Thursday, September 13, 2018. He was born in Oshkosh, on September 28, 1943, the son of the late Paul and Ruth (Schoonover) Miller. On July 17, 1976 he married Colleen Nelson in St. Paul Park, MN. Earl was proud to serve in the Navy from 1961 to 1964. Later, he worked for Rockwell International in Oshkosh, retiring in 1995. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, served in the Omro Athletic Association, and was an active member of American Legion Post #234. Earl loved his family and friends fiercely. He enjoyed all social opportunities and his coffee clutch. He made his rounds, cherishing time spent talking to everyone, from every walk of life. He also loved playing cards, camping, reading, and cheering on his home sports’ teams. Earl will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Colleen; children: Julie (Randy) Recob of Fort Atkinson, Casey (Adam) DeGroot of Roseburg, OR, Christine Gaines of Derby, KS and Thomas Miller of Wendell, NC; grandchildren: Logan, Cooper, Ava, Parker Recob and Zane DeGroot; brother, Paul (Faye) Miller; sister, Pamela (Jack) Hunter; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 720 Jackson Ave., Omro. The visitation will resume on Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be expressed at www.omrofuneralhome.com. A memorial fund in Earl’s name is being established.
