Joan Marie Weber Moon, age 90, was peacefully called home on Friday, March 26, 2021. She was born in Oshkosh, WI, March 20, 1931, daughter to Herbert and Angeline Weber. On Valentine’s Day in 1953, she married the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Moon. Their 55 year marriage was blessed with 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Joan lived in Omro most of her life; raising her children there, seeing her grandchildren visit and grow up, and living out her golden years with Jerry. Many memories were made watching Joan and Jerry polka dance in their living room after one of their famous 4:00pm old fashioneds; a tradition the Moon Family will surely continue. She was an avid golfer, frequenting Winro Golf Club, where she hit a magical hole-in-one. A tree and a plaque will be placed on the course in her memory. She enjoyed gardening, baking meals and bread from scratch, and canning the harvest from their garden. Her home was always open for a visit, with a door that was rarely locked, she happily welcomed family and friends. She was meticulous with her housekeeping. Her sneaky grandsons would move items to see how soon she would notice that they were out of place; it usually didn’t take long. Even in her final years, she was quick to catch a missed crumb or dust pile and wanted her room kept organized and tidy.

Joan has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on those she has touched throughout her life. She is survived by her children, Denise (Rick) Koch, Dennis (Ginny) Moon, Darrel (Sharon) Moon, Diane Moon, and Debbie (Greg) Madaus; her grandchildren, Ryan (Gina) Koch, Jason (Tiffany) Moon, Derek (Jessica) Koch, Josh (Andria) Moon, Jon (Amy) Madaus, Jill (Logan) Fuller, and Bailey (Edgar Ezerietis) Williams; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Mueller; brother, Carlton (Betty) Weber; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents Herbert and Angeline; brothers, Stanley Weber, and Ralph (Elizabeth) Weber; brother-in-law, Louis Mueller.

The family extends a special thank you to the loving staff at Park View Health Center who provided wonderful care to Joan during her time as a resident, especially in this past year when family visitation was limited. The ladies were always willing to help her with her makeup and jewelry; she always looked beautiful.
While her family and friends will miss her every day, there is comfort in knowing her long battle with Parkinson’s has come to an end and she is dancing again with her love, Jerry.

A visitation will be on Friday, April 16th from 10:00am-12:00pm with a memorial service to follow at First Presbyterian Church, 955 N. Webster Ave., Omro, with Rev. Travis Shafer officiating. Masks are required while inside the church. Burial will be in Omro Cemetery, Omro. A memorial fund is being established in Joan’s name for Park View Health Center’s Activity Department and First Presbyterian Church.
