Obituary for Marjorie Marie Hellwig

Marjorie Marie Hellwig, age 95, passed away at Parkview Health Center on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. She was born on a farm just outside of Eden on June 18, 1923 the daughter of the late John and Augusta (Guell) Miller. Marjorie graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1940. After graduation she attended Oshkosh Teachers College, then worked for Borden Dairy in Fond du Lac as a bookkeeper. On May 25, 1957 she married Gerald Hellwig in Fond du Lac. Marjorie and Gerald built the Omro Motel and they operated it for 24 years. She was active in the community and belonged to the Omro Study Club, Women’s Service League, Homemakers, the Library Board and Bridge Clubs. She had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing and directing in the First Presbyterian Choir. Traveling was a big part of her life. Marjorie will be remembered for being a giving person who loved her family.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Terry (Donna) Sharkey; granddaughters: Mona (Jeff) Schmidt and Lisa (Mark Frank) Sharkey; great-grandchildren: Bailey (Jason Schultz) Palecek, Ava Sharkey and Cory (Jeana) Schmidt; great great-granddaughter, Henley Schultz; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; former husband, John “Jack” Sharkey; son, Mark Hellwig; and brother, Claude (Bernice) Miller.

A visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 955 N. Webster Ave., Omro, with Rev. Travis Schafer officiating.
