Obituary for Mary Helen Campbell (Friedel)

Campbell, Mary Helen – Mary Helen (Friedel) Campbell, age 93, of Waukau, passed into glory at home on January 30th, 2019 following a long, full life. Mary Helen was born February 2, 1925, the youngest of 7 children born to Paul William & Maria Helena (Seurer) Friedel in Fond du Lac, WI. On February 10, 1944, she married Normond Campbell, at Truax Field, Madison, WI. They were married 63 yrs before Normond passed July 25th, 2007, and together they raised 9 children.
She attended St. Mary's Parochial School, Roosevelt Middle School and graduated from Goodrich High School, FDL in 1943.
Mary Helen is a member of St. Mary Parish in Omro, being in the choir for 60 yrs, which she enjoyed immensely. While raising her large family, Mary Helen was employed seasonally for many years as an engraver with Miles Kimbal. She was the Postmaster at the Waukau post office for 22 years until her retirement, was a member of the National League of Postmasters as well as the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mary Helen was the treasurer of Tice Cemetery for 54 years, and was the Waukau School treasurer. Mary enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting and was an excellent seamstress. She loved to travel and accomplished visiting every state except Idaho. Her favorite trip was to Ireland and she longed to return for another visit.
Mary Helen is survived by her children: David (Mary) Campbell, Auburndale, FL; Stephen (Juniette) Campbell, Winneconne; Edward (Jennifer) Campbell, Neenah; Shawn (Rose) Campbell, Oshkosh; Mary Jo (Jeffrey) Chriske, Omro; Carole (Joseph) Dorsch, Pickett; Margaret Campbell, Waukau; 23 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister-in-law Elaine Cook, and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Normond, sons Greyling (1956) and Paul (2009), daughter-in-law Irene (Jungwirth) Campbell, grandson Jon Stoffel, and great-granddaughter Olivia Stoffel. She was also preceeded in death by all her siblings: Henrietta (Erv) Mengel, Edmond (Helen) Friedel, Norbert (Laone) Friedel, Cyril (Marie) Friedel, Roy (Kate) Friedel, Ruth (Mike) Pauly, brothers- and sister-in-laws, Fred Campbell, Max Campbell, Beulah (Delbert) Bills; Reginald (Helen) Campbell, Virgil (Inez) Campbell, Charlie (Marge) Campbell, Zelda Nesbit, Edna (John) Hengel, and Frank Cook.
We would like to thank our siblings for helping in the care of our mother over the past two years.
We gratefully thank our sister Margaret for her devotion to our mother over this past year as a live-in caregiver, especially over the last four months of 24/7 devoted care. Our appreciation for caregiver Sherri Otto who covered one day weekly when we needed extra help. Mom enjoyed your company. To the nurses and staff of Ascension Hospice for your help and care, not only to our mother, but your concern for our needs during these last several weeks. Thank you Ann, Vi and Father Joe for your spiritual care since mom has been home bound. And thank you to all who visited mom during the recent holiday season. She very much enjoyed your company.
Visitation for Mary will be at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, Omro, Sunday February 3rd, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. and then again on Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, February 4th, 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 a.m., with mass following at 11 a.m. with Fr. Joe Mattern and Sister Pam Biehl officiating. Mary Helen's internment and Normond's inurnment will take place at Tice Cemetery, following a fellowship meal.
