Obituary for Mavis Arlene Wolff (Schutz)

Mavis Arlene Wolff
At approximately 8:00 AM Tuesday, September 25, our mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend was taken from us, due to an automobile accident. She was born in Oshkosh on August 25,1930.
The previous six months severely tested Mom, both physically and mentally, due to another auto accident in which she was injured, and Dad died. Unable to remain living in her Neshkoro home, Mom relocated to Omro's Webster Manor. Initially, the change was somewhat difficult, but she adjusted, made new friends, renewed some old acquaintances, and appeared to be enjoying life again. She truly enjoyed and looked forward to the evening chat sessions with her new neighbors and was disappointed when they didn't meet. She was seldom alone as there was almost always someone visiting, taking her shopping, out for dinner or lunch, or calling to see how she was doing. Special Thanks particularly go to nieces Susan and Karen who always seemed to call or check on mom, daily. The attention was appreciated by her and the family.
Mom's interests varied throughout the years. When she was younger, she stayed at home to raise her three boys, frequently threatening us with the phrase, "Wait until your dad gets home!", which sometimes meant trouble for us! Later, she enjoyed archery, golf, bowling, snowmobiling, trips to the cabin in Tomahawk, knitting, reading, shopping, and gambling.
Mom's potato dumplings and baked bread were to die for. The bread was enjoyed by everyone, the dumplings, mainly, by us boys and Dad! After experiencing her homemade chicken noodle soup, the canned variety was no longer an option! The meals she turned out at the old cabin never seemed to amaze and she did it with the bare minimums; no running water or electricity, and best of all, no complaining. Those little things and the good times will always be cherished.
Mom did enjoy knitting and crocheting. She made hats, mittens, afghans, and "scrubbies" which she would give as gifts to friends and relatives. We certainly hope that those who received any of these items have enjoyed them.
Mom is survived by her three boys: Robert Jr. (Joan), Steven "Scott" (Sharon), and Michael (Bonnie), four grandchildren: Jodi (Todd Foate), Matthew (Mary), Troy, and Casey, and four great grandchildren: Logan, Lilly, Athena, and Emily. She is further survived by one brother, Richard (Judy) Schutz, brother-in-law Robert Fitzgibben, and sister-in-law Beatrice Bolar.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband Robert Sr., parents Florence and Edward Schutz, and sisters Elaine Reinert and Carol Vogt.
Mom, we all knew this time would eventually arrive, just not this way! The void in our hearts is immense, you will be missed.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the Roycraft family and to the driver of the other vehicle, who was severely injured in the accident.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, 425 Jefferson Ave., Omro, Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in her memory.
