Obituary for Paul Louis Werzinske

Paul L. Werzinske, age 76, of Madison and formerly of Omro, died Thursday, July 4, 2019, at Lake Mills Health Services in Lake Mills, Wisconsin. Born on September 29, 1942, in Ripon, the son of Benjamin and Angeline (Heiland) Werzinske, Paul married Rozanne Beck in 1967.
Employed by Speed Queen Company, in Ripon, on the production line for over 30 years, Paul was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Omro where he served on the Session Board, started the youth acolyte group, was an usher, and a youth counselor. Paul served his community as Commander of the Omro VFW Post, was a liaison to the Boy Scouts, was part of the Omro Promotions which became the Omro Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Omro Lions Club. During the Vietnam War, Paul served his country with the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic. After the war, Paul was honored with the Outstanding Wisconsin Vietnam Veteran Award.
Survivors include his wife, Rozanne Werzinske of Madison; a son, Jody (Veronica) Werzinske of Madison; a grandson, PJ Werzinske of Madison and his mother, Kristina Werzinske of Columbus; a sister, Charlotte Steinkraus of Neenah; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Beck of Omro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Benjamin Werzinske.
Memorial services were held on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in Bashford Church in Madison, where family and friends gathered from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Memorial services will also be held on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 955 N. Webster Ave., in Omro, with Reverend Travis Schafer officiating. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Full Military Honors will be given following the services.
