Dakota J “Coop” Cooper Our funny, loving son and brother Dakota J. Cooper, 20, of Omro, Wisconsin passed away on the evening of Sunday, October 8th. Dakota was an outstanding young man and was dearly loved by his family and friends. Dakota was born on September 2, 1997 in Neenah, Wisconsin. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt especially geese and duck. Dakota also enjoyed participating in wrestling and football throughout his four years at Omro High School. Currently he was attending the University of Wisconsin Platteville studying engineering. Dakota was devoted to his family. He made a point of coming home when his sister visited and often invited his brother and Al to visit him in Platteville. He loved boating, family vacations to Mountain, family reunions in Iowa, roller coasters, hunting, fishing, the Packers, playing cards and watching movies.Friends and family considered Dakota to be a great problem solver and knowledgeable about many subjects. His brother called him “smartical” and his close friend, Kyle Kafer, said “he was the smartest kid he knew and could talk intelligently about anything.” Dakota was often embarrassed at his talents for math and knowledge and did not want others to know his ability or feel inferior. Dakota was a very ambitious and determined young man when it came to earning money. To be frank, he loved money and began working and saving at the age of 12. He dreamed of becoming rich, buying a yacht and sailing around the world. However, he knew that this would be impossible without help, as he was so directionally challenged he needed to use the GPS on his phone to find his way around Omro. Dakota was a man of few words. When he did speak it seemed a room would go silent then erupt in loud laughter as Dakota would quietly grin. His humor was creative, dry, and witty with quick quips and comebacks often leaving you to look up new words or politics. His friends knew that if “Coop” was with you, you would always have a good time. Dakota had a number of nicknames throughout his life including Rainman, Robotman, Earl, Tiger and many more that we cannot mention here, but in the end everyone knew him as “Coop.” Coop will be missed by his parents James and Michelle (Donovan) Cooper of Omro, his sister Cassandra (Adam) Levetzow, his brother Garrett and brother in spirit Al Kloiber. He is also survived by his maternal grandparents Michael and Shirley Donovan and paternal grandmother Darlene Cooper and many aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather George Cooper. A visitation and mass for family and friends of Dakota will be held on Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at St Mary’s Church, Omro Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with mass immediately following at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship will be established in the name of Coop. The family would like to thank the Omro First Responders that assisted the family. “Coop, you’ll never be lost again.”
