David Martin Sr., 84, or Omro, passed away at Aurora Medical Center on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. David was born on February 13, 1933 in Tipp City, Minnesota to the late James and Vivian (Tarbert) Martin. After David completed high school, he enlisted into the Air Force, where he was deployed during the Korean War where he served as a Mechanic. He obtained the rank of Corporal before he returned home. On October 4, 1958 he married Jean McAuley of Oshkosh, they went on to have four much loved children. Together they enjoyed riding snowmobiles together, and those who were friends with them said they were very loving. David loved his wife and his children dearly. He was always caring with his wife throughout their marriage and through her illness as well. David was an avid hunter in his younger years. He enjoyed hunting deer and pheasant. In his more recent years, he enjoyed viewing the wildlife of all kinds. He enjoyed riding through the countryside to take in the scenery as well as to just socialize with those in his company. He enjoyed tinkering in his sheds with his cars and lawnmowers.

David is survived by his wife of 59 years: Jean Martin, his children: Lisa (Mark) Johnson, Butch (Laura) Martin, Gretchen (Phil) Ertmer, grandchildren: Rachel (Josh Menge) Martin, Josh (Terah Moseng) Fink, Nickie (Mike Mead) Tritt, Michael (Elisha Rasor) Tritt, Elizabeth Martin, Erin Martin, Bradley (Olivia Buehler) Ertmer, Brandt (special friend Maggie Clifford) Ertmer, great-grandchildren: Jason Dickerson Jr., Cohen Spanbauer, Brynn Fink, his sister: Dorothy Wolfe, as well as many other special family and friends.

David is preceded in death by his son: Daniel Martin, who passed away in 1989, his parents, James and Vivian Martin, and his step-father Michael Groff.
A funeral service for David will take place at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home in Omro on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 12:00 with Elder Richard Ostwald officiating. A time of visitation will take place at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 am to 12:00. Burial will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park following the service.

The family of David would like to thank the first responders, as well as the doctors and staff at Aurora Medical Center’s Emergency Room for their care and concern of David in his final moments.
