Obituary for Evelyne Catherine May (Kersch)

Evelyne C. May, age 92, of Omro, died Wednesday morning, January 31, 2018, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on October 31, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Nicholas and Katarina (Harnacker) Kersch, Evelyne married William C. May on January 12, 1946. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1976.
An active community member, Evelyne’s service work included the Friends of Omro Library, Community Center, and serving on the Omro Cemetery Board. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking (especially bread), and always thinking of others before herself, was generous to family and charities. Evelyne was known to be a “tough player” of the game Aggravation.
Survivors include her children, Louise (Chuck) Kello of Ft. Collins, Colorado, William “Willow” (Arlene “Irene”) May of Pickett, Linda Krueger of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, and Laura (Dennis) Kolbus of Amherst, Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren, Robyn Jensen, Jason May, Jennifer Treleven, Marie Cobb, William Krueger, James Krueger II, Troy Krueger, Mark Krueger, Katie Asberry, Justin Kolbus, and Nicholas Kolbus; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelyne was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son-in-law, James Krueger; a granddaughter, Carol Ann “CA” Erickson; two brothers, Nicholas and Anthony Kersch; and a sister, Betty Leitgeb.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, 425 Jefferson Ave., with Reverend William Hower officiating. Interment will be in the Omro Cemetery. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
