Obituary for Clayton Jim Thoss

Clayton Jim  Thoss
Clayton J. Thoss, age 52, left us unexpectedly on Saturday, March 31, 2018. He was born in Berlin, WI on January 7, 1966. Clay was proud to serve in the U.S. Navy as a Petty Officer First Class (Aviation Ordinanceman) during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm with Fighter Squadron One aboard the U.S.S. Ranger. He earned the Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southwest Asian Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, National Defense Medal and won the Battle “E” Medal five times. He was with Oshkosh Truck for 16 years. He was known to enjoy drag racing and deer hunting with his brothers. Clay will be remembered for being sensitive, compassionate and a gentle giant. He loved his children, family, friends and life.

Clay is survived by his children: Connor and Cayleigh Thoss; siblings: David (Kathy) Thoss, Marilyn (Steven) Mead and Eric (Pam) Thoss; nieces and nephew: BillieJo, Katrina, and Gabe; great-niece and nephew: Shelby-Lynn and Garrett; adoptive parents: Donna Booth and the late Frank Booth; and many extended family and good friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Thoss and infant sister, Valerie Thoss.

A visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home, 425 Jefferson Ave, Omro, followed by military honors with American Legion Post #33. A celebration of life will be held following the service at Lucky Dogz Bar, 157 S. Green Bay Rd., Neenah. Burial will be on Tuesday, April 10th, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Berlin. This is a small country cemetery located approximately 1.1 miles on County Road F north of the intersection of County Roads E and F.
