Obituary for Andrew Halkney Oleson

Andrew Halkney Oleson Sr. “Green Menace”, age 81 passed away April 6, 2018 at his home. He was born April 19, 1936 the son of Arthur Clarence and Florice Mae Halkney Oleson. He attended Tice School and graduated from Omro High School in 1954. He played Football at Omro High School. He was a member of the Omro FFA and United Utica 4-H. He served 2 years in U.S. Army and six years in the reserves. He married Mary Emma Whitemarsh April 23, 1976 at Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church in Oshkosh.
He farmed for many years, mink ranched with his brother Frank, drove truck hauling crops to canning factories, grain mills. He drove tractor for anyone who needed help and also worked at Mercy Medical Center. He enjoyed raising Irish Setters a family tradition for 78 years, Fords, Fishing, Hunting, belonged to many area trapshooting clubs, Farmall tractors, Horse Racing, Ski Doo Snowmobile racing, Stock Car Racing, CB Radio’s, owning- riding many Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Coffee, watching old western movies, cards, cribbage and telling stories about the old Days.
He is survived by his wife Mary. Sons, Andrew Jr., Aaron; and his dog Rocket. Sisters-in-law, Marion Oleson, Joan Oleson. He is further survived by in laws, Chi Whitemarsh (Ken Jungwirth) Mike Whitemarsh, Sue Whitemarsh. Nieces, nephews, many cousins, many friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur and Florice; Brothers, Arthur Jr, Frank, Erwin, Sisters Roberta, Marian Luebke, Brother-in-Law Allen Luebke; Father-in-law, Reed Whitemarsh; Mother-in-Law, Vivian Whitemarsh; Grandparents, Otis and Lizzie Anderson Oleson, Frank and Cora Goodwin Halkney.
Visitation will be held Saturday April 14, 2018 from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM. Service following visitation at the Kwiatkowski Funeral Home Omro. Burial at Waukau Cemetery. Thank you to the Agnesian Hospice caregivers Pam and Amy.
