Obituary for Lee Hubert Roberts
Lee H. Roberts, age 92, of Oshkosh, passed peacefully from this life, on Wednesday afternoon, May 9, 2018, at Eden Meadows. Born in Oshkosh on August 7, 1925, the son of Hubert and Ruth (Roberts) Roberts, Lee married Joyce Bradley on March 1, 1946.
A graduate of Omro High School, class of 1943, Lee was employed by Rockwell International, in Oshkosh, in the Heat Treat Department. Lee was a faithful employee for over 40 years before retiring in 1987, and was a member of Local 291. He was a talented baseball player, playing in the Winnebago Land League and was scouted by major leagues. The family would travel to different parks to watch him play. He was a sports fan, following the Packers/Badgers, along with area teams. Lee enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He hunted pheasant on his father and uncle’s adjoining farms and ducks in the streams that ran through their property. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and shared his passion with his 2 sons. The family farm lended itself to other activities like spear fishing, goose hunting and trapping. Lee attended the Omro Presbyterian Church and the Waukau United Methodist Church. In 1985, Lee and Joyce moved from Omro to Oshkosh.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Roberts of Oshkosh; his children, Donald (Kris) Roberts of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Jeffrey (Vivian) Roberts of Lebanon, New Jersey, Christine Schettle of Oshkosh, and Jacqueline (Dan Lambert) of Appleton; five grandchildren, Ryann Roberts, Amy Kaiser, Lauren Busacca, Adam Schettle, and Bradley Schettle; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Lind of Neenah. Preceding Lee in death are his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Kwiatkowski Funeral Home in Omro. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Tuesday from 12 Noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Omro Cemetery.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Knaus and First Generations Home Care & Hospice for their wonderful care.
